Mary Micha Nieves passed away suddenly November 11, 2017. Micha was born June 16, 1936 in Logan, West Virginia; the daughter of Reece and Elizabeth (Lucas) Duff. Micha was the town clerk and the first female mayor of Chapmanville, West Virginia. She was an avid crossword aficionado, often doing at least two crossword puzzles daily. Micha loved gardening, animals and birdwatching, and she could name every species. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan, West Virginia, and Micha was also a former treasurer of the Delton Crooked Lake Association. Micha is survived by her husband of thirty six years, Serafin (Chuck) Nieves, children: Thomas L. (Nancy) Curry of Woodbury, MN, a daughter, Cynthia (James) Vinson of Man, WV, Laura Kennedy, Karen Nieves, Jeff Nieves, and Ross (Molly) Nieves, grandchildren: Tara Balthazor, Micha (Anthony) Browning, John Curry, Derek (Ashley) Vinson, and Emily Vinson, Jessie, Max, Christina and Anthony Nieves, great grandchildren: Caiden, Blaise, and Mason Balthazor, Lucas and Matthew Browning, Marshall Yearry, Tinlee and Kyson Vinson. Micha was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Nancy Combs. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
