David Edward Reichard passed away February 11, 2017 at Borgess Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1942 in Sturgis, MI. Cremation has taken place. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Ledger Reichard, a dear friend, Del Thusius, a Sister-in-law, Pearl Reichard and a nephew, John Reichard. Surviving are his Brother, Richard Reichard of Auburn, IN, two nieces, Patricia Ann Trubey (Dennis) of Garrett, IN and Victoria Riehle (Ross) of Edgerton, OH. David Graduated from Sturgis High School and Western Michigan University. After graduation he became a teacher at Portage Central High School and taught there many years, retiring in 2007. David taught music and history and received many awards in teaching. He was also an accomplished musician serving as organist and choir director in several area churches. He also wrote and published several pieces of music. He was a horse and animal lover and he and Del co-owned the Woodley Farm in Oshtemo, MI, were they owned and boarded Arabian Horses along with a number of "rescued" dogs and cats. He also leaves behind his horse-"Cam" a Percheron, he will miss his daily ration of carrots and peppermints. A memorial service will be conducted by Mother Linnea Stifler at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel, 3941 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo, Saturday, May 20, 11:00 AM.
