Boyd passed away January 14, 2017, at Stoneridge of Bellevue after a lengthy illness. Boyd was born July 30, 1933 in Battle Creek, the son of Fred and Eva (DeMott) Dingledine. A 1952 graduate of W.K. Kellogg High School, Boyd proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Boyd was a loyal employee of the Upjohn Company with over thirty two years of service, retiring in 1989. Boyd enjoyed fishing, and owned Boyd’s Custom Rods, where he built fishing rods for the area anglers. Boyd shared this talent by teaching rod building in adult education classes. He also enjoyed golfing and spending winters in Florida. On November 8, 1952, Boyd married the love of his life; the former Margaret “Maggie” Stokes, who survives. Boyd is also survived by a daughter in law, Cathy (Troy) Baxter, brothers: Vaughn (Frances), Richard (Lynn), and Ronald (Sandy) Dingledine, sisters: LouAnn (Gary) Gensch, Linda (Mike) O’Keefe, grandchildren: Amber (Rob Kilmartin) Dingledine and Angela (Christian Field) Dingledine, great granddaughter, Zoey Craig, step grandchildren: Josh and Moriah Baxter, a sister in law, Florence Sisco, and several nieces and nephews. Boyd was preceded in death by sons: Phillip in 1978 and David in 1987, a daughter: Susan in 2012, brothers: Harold and Tony Dingledine, and a sister: Nancy Dingledine. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home, Delton where a Wake Service will be conducted at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Thursday, January 19, 2017, 11:00 AM, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Delton, Rev. Fr. John Fleckenstein, celebrant. Private inurnment in East Hickory Corners Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association or Bronson at Home Hospice of Battle Creek will be appreciated.
